cucumbers drying out, now with photo

Here's what they're looking like. This is the better looking part, on top. Lower down all the leaves are brown and dried.

I water every 3 days if it doesn't rain, but we've had plenty of rain this year. I started watering these daily since I noticed the problem.

thanks for any advice

Plants are drying out. Soil may be too dry. Possible complications: and/or windy days and/or low humidity.

That looks to me like leaf scortch, a condition caused when the leaves loose moister faster than it can be replaced from the soil.

dryng out faster--that sounds like it may be it. They are actually picking up and looking better since I started watering them daily.

They are in a "square foot" bed--perhaps too shallow and so not enough moisture.

thank you!
