Are they dead or slow? They are Green Bottle Flies which are found in decaying matter. The maggots pupate in the decaying matter...do you have fresh manure around your plants?

They look like they just pupated and are lethargic because they just entered the world as flies. :-)

They do look like the Green Bottle Fly which means they are not what is eating your squash leaves.

Thanks. They are definitely dead. Some were so hard to remove that they broke in half. I found out that this is caused by a fungus. See the fly on the left of the new image attached. You can see the fungus between the abdomen sections. You can also read more in this link.
