Dead flies on summer squash leaves

My wife and I planted some summer squash three weeks ago. Today, I noticed something had been eating the leaves. I flipped the leaves over and noticed several dead flies. Are the leaves poisonous to flies, or should I need concerned about pesticides in the soil? I am planning on getting the soil tested since it's an 85 year old house. Just thought it was strange to see so many dead flies on the leaves.
