Honeysuckle disease in zone 4?

I have several honeysuckle bushes (unknown variety) that looked great in the spring and early summer, but now I'm noticing some strange growth on the growing tips of branches. At first I thought it might be asters yellow (my coneflowers had that two years ago and I had to dig them all up). A Master Gardener told me he didn't think it was asters yellow but suspected aphids. I checked it out and I do not see any evidence of aphids. The branch tips have very bizarre growth consisting of many bunches of tiny distorted leaves and also some blooms that look kind of distorted (the bushes bloomed normally weeks ago and are done).
