Japanese Beetles 30-50 days???? NOT.

They lie. Yes they do. They give you hope and then you see reality. No, Japanese Beetles do not end their damage after 30-50 days. What they don't tell you is that the buggers emerge at different times and continue to destroy throughout the whole summer. They started here on June 30th. It is now mid-August and my Hibiscus and cute new little peach and cherry trees are still full of hungry bugs. This is the worst year ever for them.

They look pretty juicy to me -- when I am not armed with my container of soapy water, I use whatever I have. Sometimes a rock that I can smush them on and today I had my clippers to cut off their ugly little heads. Sure seems that a bird or two would see these as lunch, but what do I know. I sure wouldn't eat one. I guess they wouldn't either.
