Strange Foliage - Disease or Genetics?

EricaBraun

I have a volunteer salvia that sprung up this year near my pineapple sage. It has some interesting variegated foliage. I'm wondering if it perhaps crossed with my chiapas sage and the leaves are somehow a result of the cross (although neither have variegated foliage) or if it has some disease, nutrient imbalance, etc. It hasn't bloomed yet, so I have nothing to report there.

Thanks, in advance, for any help. I've seen many pineapple sage volunteers, but this is a new one to me.
