I had a "zombie apocalypse" in my backyard, and found a whole bunch of zombie flies grown fast to flowers and seeds on my herbs and vegetables. I know the mycellia of the Entomophthera genus are very selective in the types of tissue they infect, but the tiny tendrils grow so deeply and so numerously into the plant tissue that the flies cannot be removed without destroying the structure to which they're attached. I found one fly grown fast to two seeds on a Vidalia onion. My question is: will this will ruin the viability of the seeds? I've searched all over the Internet, and there doesn't seem to be any research on collateral damage caused by Entomophthera to cultivated plants.
