Pesky pest !

Hello friends!

A friend of mine in Pittsburgh sent me this question and I'm hoping you can help us ID this pest and provide a remedy. Here is her question:

Dear fellow gardeners (or anyone!), please help! I have a small pest plaguing my Black-eyed Susan Vine (thunbergia alata). To me, it looks like a small, black tick that doesn't fly (as best I can tell). It hangs out on the underside of the leaves, making clusters of small, spherical white eggs, and causes the leaves to yellow and fall off prematurely. The most common pests for this plant (according to Google) are spider mites (I don't see any webbing), scales, and white flies, but none of these seems right. What are they, and more importantly, how do I get rid of them??
