Squash and stink bugs are difficult to control because few insecticides have much affect on the adults. Insecticidal Soaps and Neem Oil products are supposed to be fairly effective controls of eggs and nymphs but even pyrethrins have limited control of the adults, but will also kill off any predators of these buggers.

if you remove the plant.. why do you think the bugs will remain ....

and why would they go after a different crop ... are you not saying.. you are removing all the squash?????

if you fear they are in the soil ... then double dig the soil ...

perhaps i am over dosing on my coffee .. lol.. am i missing something obvious???? .. many bugs are highly selective on what they want

Yes, In my main garden, I do have squash and green beans still producing. What will double digging do? I would rather do the labor than the spraying. I did pick eggs and adults in both spaces until very recently.

I have an heirloom Tondo, that has been prolific, in the main garden. I have only had a few adults, and very few eggs.

You could clean up the sacrifice space by putting all plant parts in a plastic bag and putting it in the garbage. That way you will get many of the adults and eggs. Some will get away.

Or if the space is not too large, build a nice fire over the plants and have fun.
