White flecks killing my boxwood

Hi,

I have a four-foot tall boxwood (I think) bush that is about 10 years old and is planted next to the front porch. In the last two years white flecks have started invading the bush, starting in the back. The flecks are narrow and less than a tenth of an inch long. They cover the stems and the leaves and eventually kill them. Can you please help me identify if it is pest or disease, and recommend treatment? Picture is attached. Thank you!

That is not a very clear image, but I believe your problem is an infestation of scale insects.

Thank you Rhizo_1. Thanks to your suggestion that they could be scale insects, I found a picture that depicts my problem exactly - they are Euonymus scale insects. Picture is at http://www.gardenersworld.com/how-to/problem-solving/garden-pests-euonymus-scale/main.jpg. I can now treat them accordingly. -- Richard
