From the Bayer website -

"Can I use Bayer Advanced� 2-In-1 Systemic Rose & Flower Care in container-grown plants?
Answer: Bayer Advanced 2-In-1 Systemic Rose & Flower Care is not for use on or in container-grown plants."

I see they do make a 2 In 1 'spike' formulated to be pushed into the soil of container plants, but what is the problem you are hoping to resolve - maybe there is a simpler solution than a systemic insecticide. Aside from the insect issue, I never use a granular fertilizer in containers, much to easy to burn roots.

If you think you have a problem that requires a systemic insecticide, better to buy a product with label instructions for applying it....like the Bonide you mention.

Is your goal insect control (which one), fertilizer? We don't know what you wish to accomplish.

The 2 in 1 product shown on their website is imidacloprid and granular fertilizer, Bayer states it is not for use in containers.

A granular type fertlizer would not be the same as the time release osmocote pellets that release small amounts of product over weeks. I use a water soluable fertilizer product for container plants, rarely mixing to the full strength of label directions, I haven't found it necessary.

Keep in mind that imidacloprid has been linked to honeybee death when used on flowering plants.

I am in Williamsburg Brooklyn, I have not really seen any honey bees by my plants. It was actually illegal until this year to keep bees in the city. I have plants on my roof, there are not many beneficial insects except some ladybugs occasionally.

Want to use Imidclorprid as a prevention against Scale and whaterver else.

The fertilizer is slow release fertilizer, so the label says. it looks a bit like Nutricote.

I hope that you've been paying attention and know that you cannot apply the Bayer's product to your containerized plants. Imidicloprid is a hazardous pesticide and must be used according to label directions.

Don't be led astray by the fact that there is a fertilizer in the product. It is still not to be used in containers. But, rather than take our word for it, you could call the 1-800 phone number on the label. You should always call for information when using any chemical product that you are unsure about.
