Identify this animal hole

Can anyone identify this burrow? The hole is about 3" by 4 1/2". It seems too big to be a rat, and I can't really identify the scat that is near the opening. Skunk, opossum, anything?? Thanks if you have any ideas and can help me out. I want to know what I'm dealing with. I have not seen major damage or bite marks in my nearby vegetable garden, and fallen tomatoes are not gobbled right up.

if it were skunk.. you would know ... i know when they walk thru the yard the next day ....

shove that rock in it.. and see what happens..

god help me.. that is all i would do.. lol ... lets see if the hole is 'active' ....

also.. you could rake the soil.. to loosen it all.. and see if you cant capture some foot prints ...

i cant focus on the scat.. nor the penny.. but its a great scale.. lol ...

Thanks for the comments! I plan to sprinkle some flour around the opening tonight to see what kind of tracks I end up with. It's right next to our foundation. Do not want the critters to get into the basement....
