Hi people,

Can anyone help me identify this insect please? Should it die with pyrethrins, postassium salts of fatty acids, neem extract?

Thanks.

It's a type of tree hopper called a Buffalo Treehopper. Are you observing swarms of these small insects on some plants? If so, the tiny nymphs can be dislodged with strong sprays of water. Insecticidal soap applications only if necessary.

If you have only observed a few....don't worry about it.

Thanks a lot rhizo_1, now that I've seen pictures of it on google images, it is certainly a buffalo treehopper. Thanks a lot for the identification and advice. Fortunately I have some insecticidal soap to kill them if the population gets large. Last season a pepper plant died because of these. Now I know what it is, thanks a lot.

Thanks bmh4796 for your input, I can see what you say. If you were looking at it bird's eye view it could look like a stinkbug. Thanks.
