bug that leaves behind poppy seeds?

My plants have recently been plagued by some unseen pest. On some plants, like lemon balm and marjoram, I find small poopy-seed like objects all over the leaves with numerous holes or chunks of the leaf missing. On other plants, such as my rosemary, lavender, and thyme, I find these same little poppy-seed things but the tips of the branches have gone all limp and wilty.

anyone know what is destroying my plants and how I can fight back?

Look above the "seeds" to find the producer -- caterpillars.

Oh yes, those "seeds" are frass -- more often called caterpillar poop!
