Here in Australia I had slug issues galore this autumn, they had bred to epidemic proportions. I developed a new slug trap recipe that really did lure them to their fate!
I had tried yeast, beer etc with minimal results.
So I made my own brew...
Vegemite ( a black Australian yeast spread that we love to have on toast for breakfast) and molasses ( a heaped tablespoon each) mixed into a jug of boiling water. Stir it up, cool a little and then pour into the slug traps (I had 8 spread amongst my newly planted veges!)
We changed the traps each week. we had 100s and 100s of slugs of all sizes in there. We did it for about 8 weeks until the numbers died down. Now no slugs! Happy veges..
