| I have some hot pepper plants and I find every once in a while a pod with a hole in it - as in the photo.
I did open this pepper up ? and I found the culprit. I have two mug shots of it - one it is curled up in a circle by the pepper, and the other it's making a run for it - I blew up the photo. It has many tiny legs- and a caterpillar like head clearly for eating. It's only 1 CM long. maybe 15 bubble like parts/ribs to it's body, it can curl up into a circle or it runs flattened out. I would love to know what it is- and then what I can do to get rid of these pests - OR lure them to something else that might make them happy. Thoughts ? Thanks in advance. I hope my short term memory affords me the chance to check back on this post in the next days :) The peppers - the pods this thing has been getting into ? have black stuff inside. |

| http://pubs.cas.psu.edu/freepubs/pdfs/agrs115.pdf See this link. It is a free, online publication from Penn State about vegetable gardening in Pennsylvania. Look up peppers and it shows european corn borer as doing that damage. The book is great. |
