Can you ID this insect for me?

| I found this on the wall in my house. I have never seen anything like it in my garden. Could it be a garden insect? But how did it get into the house? It's too large to have gotten in around a window screen etc. I did buy a new houseplant the week before from a local greenhouse and wonder if that could have been where it came from. It was a Croton, which is a tropical plant, right? Maybe it was shipped here from somewhere else? Plus, Oh, I just remembered, I did buy some outdoor Tiarella and Dicentra pots that sat on the Dining Room table a couple of nights before going outside. The bug was on the wall on the second floor but the plant was on the first floor.

| It's one of the many seed bugs, sometimes called leaf-footed bugs. Not to worry. Wont' breed indoors. Around here, gobs can overwinter on the side of the house, then move into the wall during colder times. If you have lots, they'll leave later in spring. If you don't, just take them outdoors. |

| jean....thanks very much. Glad it is not something more sinister. [g] I only had the one and it is the first time I've ever seen one. It was startling to see it on the wall, it is quite large. Thankfully it was slow moving. |
