White webbing and eggs on lime tree leaves

Hello,

We moved into our place about 8 months ago, and we have a few trees in the backyard- orange, lime and fig. Only the fig produces. The orange is full and green, but the lime is small and stunted. The other day we noticed white webbing containing small eggs covering many of the leaves. The leaves don't show and damage or nibble marks.

1) Any ideas on bugs I should research for San Diego citrus?
2) Am I best to just cut off the leaves and dispose of it, or is treatment necessary (would definitely want an organic solution)? We mainly want to protect the fig tree.

Thanks

Don't know what you mean when you say "webbing." Can you post an image?

In the meantime, if what you mean by webbing is something resembling a beard, take a look at the info about giant whitefly.

If that's not it, take a gander at this list of citrus horrors

Beyond that, San Diego is a hotbed for citrus problems.

A phone call to your county's University of California Extension Service office will likely get answers in a jiffy. Look for the phone number in the county section

Here is a link that might be useful: giant whitefly

If your lemon tree is small enough, you can just remove the eggs and silk with your hands like I do. Otherwise, I'm stumped for an organic solution. Using insecticidal oils on silk wraps sounds like a bad idea to me.
