K Phite Fungicide

I am looking for a very small amount of K Phite. I found a source to buy it from but it is $87 for 2 1/2 gallons which is more than I wanted to spend for this. I have one daylily that I purchased that I am worried about getting rot. I bought Scandinavia about a month ago and paid a pretty penny for it only to lose it to rot. The seller finally agreed to send a replacement and I am worried that it may be getting rot as well. All of my other daylilies are fine but I need to treat it before I lose it too. I have heard that K Phite does great in stopping rot in it's tracks. Would anyone be willing to sell me a small amount? I would really appreciate it!

Look up a product called "Agri-Fos", is available in TX and is sold in retail package sizes.

Dianne, just so you know (for the future)....it's against the law for anyone to sell or give you a portion of a pesticide of any kind (fungicide, insecticide, herbicide). Do what Schmoo suggests and search for the active ingredients in another brand.

So! Now, the real issue is what is causing the rot in the first place. What can be done to alter your daylily bed so that rot is only a remote possibility?

Can we help with suggestions?

"The seller finally agreed to send a replacement and I am worried that it may be getting rot as well"

Do you think it was just for the vendor to replace the plant if it didn't have rot when you received it? You did state "may be getting" and not "has".

"Can we help with suggestions?"

Amend your soil to drain better and/or water less.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I have ordered some Argi-Fos and should have it in a couple of days. I will keep my fingers crossed.

Taz, I lost the original plant that the vendor sent within a month of having it in the ground due to rot. ALL of my other 200 plus daylilies were fine and didn't have any rot what so ever. I contacted some of my friends in the daylily community and some of them told me that they had ordered from this same vendor only to lose their plants to rot shortly after getting them as well so they told me they would never order from them again. Neither will I. I think $100 is way too much money to pay for a daylily only to lose it to rot shortly after receiving it so YES, I do feel it was justified for the vendor to send me a replacement after my first plant died shortly after getting it. Especially when I talked to some other people who had had the very same problem with some of this vendors daylilies.

Thank you,
Dianne

Dianne, there's a forum here in the gardenweb where you can comment on and rate venders, good AND/OR bad. If you haven't already, you'd be doing this garden community a service by sharing your experience.

Good luck with the new plantings!

Here is a link that might be useful: Click here, Dianne

Dianne in that case I agree. I'm sorry if I sounded like I was placing the blame on you. I'm thinking about starting a nursery myself and the thing that bothers me is that some don't know how to care for plants and would blame me if their plants died in their care. Obviously you know what you are doing. Please by all means share your experience and rate the vendor.

Dianne,

Please keep in mind, products like Agri-Fos,K Phite and others of the same chemistry, do a great job in stopping the disease from progressing in the plant. But they do not "kill" the disease, they just keep it from spreading further in the plant tissue.
