Among the highly likely culprits: caterpillars slugs, snails.

Examine the plants closely, even at night.

gorjush, I cannot recall any insect - other than whiteflies - which infest poinsettias; but my experience is limited to the seasonal display; mainly indoors.
And come to think of it, coleus is pretty insect-proof; in the landscape.
Could it be a disease (fungus) and the damaged parts of the leaves have fallen away?

talk with your seller... an honest seller will admit.. he bought and sold infested stock ....

i can NOT believe.. that a plant you bought last week ... didnt come with the bugs ... most of the things that can do this.. simply dont move that fast.. literally ....

i would hesitate to spend $20 on bug cures... if the plants cost less than that ... keep that in mind ...

If it's on her stoop, it's outside, right? It wouldn't take long for a hungry muncher to find it - my guess is caterpillar or slug/snail too.

Go out after its dark this evening with a flashlight and look, then remove whatever you find manually. Take your oldest pruners or scissors and snip the culprit, you'd be surprised how much damage just one caterpillar can do.

That looks a lot like damage from slugs and/or snails.
