Something's eating my leaves

Something's been eating leaves of my plants in three separate beds. It is likely a common problem, but I couldn't find the answer by searching. There are many small holes in the leaves (internal to the leaves) on all sorts of plants, from mustard to strawberries to peppers to flowers. Any idea what is eating them, and more importantly how I can prevent this. I am in Berkeley, CA, if that is of any relevance, and all plants are in raised beds. Thanks!!

Have you investigated the possibility of slugs and/or snails? They typically leave tell-tale trails of slime where ever they go which makes it a bit easier to see if they are the culprits. Earwigs and little poll/sow bugs can cause damage like that, too.

I suggest a careful inspection after it gets dark, with a flashlight in hand. Many plant pests feed at that time.
