Philodendron Brown Spots?

I've had a philodendron for about a year and a half. It is hanging in my kitchen in front of the sliding door and does great with all the sunshine and warm weather. Usually it is fine in the winter, but recently over the last few months I have noticed brown spots appearing on some of the leaves( see picture). The leaves will then turn yellowish brown and fall off the plant. I'm not sure if this means the plant needs repotted, if it's a bacterial or viral pathogen, or if I am doing something wrong. The plant gets water about once a week and never gets droopy or anything.

It affects only a few leaves at a time and the plant is still growing well and getting new shoots all the time. I'm not sure what is causing this and my local gardening places don't seem to know either.

Since I've never had a problem with this plant I really don't want to lose it and any help would be appreciated.

Are they the uppermost leaves? Meaning the ones closest to the dirt. Or are they down the vine a bit in between other leaves? If they are the leaves closest to the dirt then it may just be old leaf drop. Meaning they are the oldest leaves on the vines and it's time for those leaves to die. That is something that is very normal. If they are further down the vines inbetween other leaves then something may be wrong.

no plant holds its leaves forever ... and once the plant sacrifices them.. they do weird things.. eventually yellowing.. and falling off ...

as noted ... the oldest are the ones most apt to do so ... its the circle of life ...

if its one of the vining types ... they can get bare for many feet ... which ultimately makes me root some new pieces ... and then get rid of the old ...

it is not uncommon.. that this happens.. as the sunlight weakens in fall/winter ...

i am surprised that it does well.. in front of a sliding door in winter ... unless that door isnt used much ... it would not be happy in said circs in a MI winter .....
