It is funny. I actually have tried growing these for a few years now. Guess where I get mine. At Logees to. I actually drove there several times to replace the ones I bought because I love them so much! They are beautiful! I too killed several. If you want to hear my sucess, I will share.
Up until last year mine did the same thing. When I had none left from last winter, I went to Logees in the spring, and bought 4 instead of one, just incase I killed any again.
Well, this time I did so well with them, that I, yes, threw 2 in the trash because I had no room for all 4. The two I have left are doing so well. If I can send a picture of them, I will ok.
All the ones I killed I was growing in peatmoss soil. I figured that if they get root rot so EASY, I would try to grow them in Al's soiless mix. THEY LOVE IT! I never saw these plants grow so well, and flower so good, all the way till now. They are doing wonderful. In fact let me work on getting a picture for you and I will post it.
By my experience, I would say, plant them in fast draing soil, and let the roots breathe. You won't have to worry about root problems. If you need more help, just e-mail me ok.

I hope you like this picture. This was taken just 1 week ago in full bloom, growing indoors since September. You can be sucessful too. :-)
