Soft cutting

Hi,

My 7-foot tall plumeria fell over, and a branch broke off. I wanted to root it, but I thought that it was supposed to dry first. That was two months ago. The piece looks like a Y. Each branch of the Y is 1 foot long, and the top two are about 2/3 green. By now the green parts have become kind of soft, the non-green parts are still hard, but a bit wrinkled.

Is the cutting starting to rot? Should I throw it away, or should I cut off the soft green parts and try to plant it? Should I not have tried to let it dry?

Also, does anyone know a site where I can ask questions about my Hawaiian Ti?

Thanks!

If you squeeze it and liquid comes out then it is rot for sure but I think it is probably just dry. Thats okay. Just pot it up with some rooting hormone and keep the soil warm. Water it only once and give it a few weeks (maybe even til spring) and it should grow some leaves. But I suggest you root it indoors because it is a nice constant temperature inside.

Good luck!
