Horrible winter and start of the season.

Well it was a bad Winter for my Plumeria. I fell into the trap of over watering them trying to keep the leaves on while they were in the basement this Winter. They did keep their leaves for the most part but the stems were getting a bit soft. I think they would have survived that but with our crazy temperatures this Spring I put them out too early and they suffered a freeze and that along with the over watering I think did them in. Now I have tip blackening and die back and the trunks are soft and rotting.

I actually de-potted some today and cut of tried to cut of the rot. I'm going to store them in the garage and hope the base hardens off and then I'll try and repot in a few weeks.

I'll hope for them best.

Sorry to hear! I have to remind myself how blessed I have it in So.Calwhere we don't get cold weather! Take care and best wishes.

Sorry to hear that. I've killed many a plumeria in my life! LOL!

Rule of thumb: Don't leave plumeria outside overnight until night temps are 55 degrees or above. An occasional night in 40s may not be too bad, but could shock them if they are used to warm temps.

When they are more or less dormant in cool temps in winter (50s to 60s) only water very, very sparingly -- and then only around the perimeter of the pots. Otherwise the trunks below the surface may rot. If you keep the plants warmer -- like around 70 you might get by with watering just a bit more. Of course this all depends upon the age and general vigor of the plants.

The smaller the plants (like newly-rooted cuttings), the more temperamental they can be.

If you have them under HID lights and provide them with more than 12 hours of 'daylight' you can keep them growing and therefore can water them more.
