I had this happen to one of my grafts too! It happens... Don't worry. : )

Sometimes the graft just doesn't take.

You can cut where the graft was and throw away the top graft portion that was your chosen variety DSP. The bottom is just root stock and really is just an unknown Plumeria. They usually just use seedlings for the rootstock for their grafting. It can be interesting to see what you really have.

I had a Makaha Sunn that didn't take so i cut the graft portion off and i even had to cut until i reached all white wood. I let it seal for a few hours and then i sealed that cut with Waterproof wood glue. It has now branched out and i have an "unknown" Plumeria. I really was upset at the loss of my Makaha Sunn, but i did have another already. This one was going to be a gift that didn't work out.

Hi Liz,

When i cut down to the clean white stem and the Latex was flowing, i left it to seal naturally for a few hours and then i sealed it again with the wood glue. Some others use other sealants, but i like the waterproof wood glue that you can find at Lowes or any hardware store. Just find the "waterproof" glue.
