Heat stress and Plumeria do not quite go hand in hand, they love heat!

I often see the first leaves of the season come out disfigured to some degree. I believe it to be normal. Once they get going the leaves should be fine. I wouldn't worry yet.

Hello everyone,
I am new to the forum and this is my first post. I fell in love with Plumies in June 2010 and started my first cutting then. I now have three and due to some mishaps have never produced a flower :( It's a long sad story involving a dog and some spider mites.... Anyway I live in the Chicago suburbs and I keep my plants indoors in a south facing bay window. The tallest plant finally produced an inflow the beginning of this month and looks to be about to bloom!!!! I am a little nervous though because some of my leaves have started to curl at the ends. They still look healthy but are curling. Should I be concerned? If so is there anything I should be doing? I am currently watering them every other day if the dirt is dry when I run my fingers through it. I have been adding African Violet fertilizer to the water that is rated 8-14-9 Thanks for the help!

Karl, are you using grow lights? If not, I'm amazed that you've got an inflo on an indoor plumie! Congratulations!

I've had the same leaf curling on occasion and I don't know what causes it, but unless you begin to see more serious problems like massive leaf drop, I wouldn't worry about it. Check the undersides for any infestations of whitefly or spider mites just in case, though.

I would be more concerned about over-watering. Every other day is normal for outdoor plumeria in summer but seems a bit excessive for indoors. If you have a wooden skewer or a bamboo chopstick, you can push it into the soil several inches and that will give you a better idea of the moisture level deeper in the pot. If the chopstick is dark and damp when you pull it out the plant doesn't need water.

Thanks for the info Jandey! No no grow lights however I do have a desk lamp with a low wattage halogen bulb pointed at them for a few daylight hours through out the day. Mostly so I can see them better lol. They get sun as long as the sun is up though in the window. It is in a great spot. I looked all over the plant and haven't found any signs of insects so i'm going to cut back on the watering as you suggested. I need to get the chopstick or something to test the dirt though. The blooms are a little bitter sweet two years and I finally have some and they look great so far but I am going on vacation on Friday morning and may miss it!!! I am adding a picture of them from tonight, so you think I'll make it?
