My Nebel's Rainbow has never black-tipped but I have plenty of others that have.

Last year, Sea Shell black-tipped on all but one branch, which it had never done before. Another plant black-tipped two years in a row, so it has never bloomed (which is frustrating as I am waiting to see what it looks like - bought it from a bad seller before I knew better).

Normally, I spray a fungicide on the tips when I notice black tip starting. Hope this helps.

Black tip is usually due to some form of stress.

I used to get black tip on my Nebel's. That variety just seemed to be more prone than others. Don't know why.

However, by keeping the plant warmer in winter and just a bit more hydrated (bit of water in winter), I have not had any problems as of late. Also, the plant is quite large now and quite sturdy. That makes a difference too.

I do believe black-tip is stress related. Too cold, too wet, too dry, root damage, bad spider mite infestation of the tips, etc. etc. All can stress out the plant.

April and early May was a bit more wet and cool than normal. Perhaps its a delayed result. I have an ET and my michivious singapore obtusa did the same thing this month.

I'll do a light neem oil treatment just to eliminate the insect variable. I'll also use the water hose to keep the tips clean and wash any potential insects off the underside of leaves. Rosalee from the TX gardening group told me that you can use water spray 3 times per day and that will fully interrupt spider mite reproduction without chemicals. Easier said than done for those of us not retired.

Side Note: THe ETLD cutting you gave me is looking good and may have an inflo so add one to your inflo count. I'll post a picture soon.

Thanks for the responses, everyone! I really want this cutting to succeed, but it's been even worse than Singapore for black-tip. I'll baby it out until it's a bit bigger and keep it more "comfortable" over winter.

K, I can't believe that Lemon Drop is developing an inflo. No, wait, yes I can, LOL! I keep finding more on the mother tree. It should be a great container plant for you. The Giveaway Pink cutting you gave me is developing a monster inflo, amazingly large for such a small cutting.
