Black-tip on Nebel's Rainbow

I have a well-rooted Nebel's Rainbow that black-tipped almost immediately after rooting last summer, then pushed out several new tips from under the sealed top. These new tips, including a well-developed 2" branch, are also now black-tipping!

The leaves are only just starting and I don't know how it survived so long with no leaves to process sunlight. The roots are in great shape; I checked when I repotted.

Does anyone else have the same problem with NR? Is there anything I can do about it? It isn't the same as the black-tip on Singapore, which makes a sticky black goo at the tips. It's more just a black coloration that takes over the whole tip and claws and then crusts over into a hard dark shell.
