Here are this week's developments from my plumeria patch:

A Pink I have in the front yard which you can smell the fragrance from the end of my driveway.

Front yard Celadine with a flanking Hibiscus. Also a very fragrant and prolific bloomer

Aztec Gold in the harsh light of mid day.

First Candy Stripe inflo starts to mature.

FIrst Penang Peach Inflo starts to mature:

A few Plumerias along a backyard fence. They are great for producing a part sun environment for plants which would otherwise get cooked considering our water restrictions. Many plants which are considered full sun do well and actually don't require as much watering. So these guys are like big umbrellas which fill out and produce more and more shade by the hottest part of the year (July/August).

Simply beautiful. I feel like I can smell them from here :) I love the pink one. And of course Penang Peach and Candy Stripe and... Heck, I haven't found one yet that I don't like. You are doing a great job raising those babies! Joan

Really nice looking plants, and smart observation on the fact that Plumeria provide the most shade during the hottest part of the summer. I agree that this can definitely be used to our advantage. In my experience very few plants in the garden center labeled "full sun" really mean 12 hours of direct Florida sun in Jun, Jul and Aug. I am sure the same is true in your location.

K the blooms look great against the red brick, not that they wouldn't look beautiful anywhere. The smell must be wonderful with that many blooms. Thanks for sharing them with us. Peg

Thank you everyone. One thing that escaped my original post was how often we can get wrapped into finicky named varieties and forget how easy and fantastic the more common ("forgiving") varieties can be to grow and display.

Congrats km2 !!! Your plumerias are simply beautiful !

Being a newbie, got many questions for all you experts:

* How old are your babies ? *

Starting to grow them now in 2liter recycled bottles and are already in bloom.

Cruz, as best as I can remember the pink and celadine were storm broken branches which I rooted maybe 6-8 years ago and the Penang and Candy stripe were bought as unrooted cuttings precisely 4 years ago. The Aztec Gold is 3 years old and is the first time its bloomed.

Rosarama - My Penang, Candystripe, and Aztec get morning to early afternoon sun and then part shade from some big Live Oaks for the rest of the day. The two in the front yard get full sun from about 8am until 6pm daily.
