HEat and humidity play a big role in coloration of plumeria flowers. Living in zone 6, I have seen how temps, and humidity make a HUGE diffrence. The higher the heat and humidity, the more INTENSE the coloration of the blooms.

This summer we are WAY hotter than usual. I have a Taj Mahol that should open it's first blooms hopefully this weekend. Right now, were seeing temps on average of around 85 degrees...not sure how long it will last, but hopefully long wnough for me to enjoy my Taj Mahol!!

Andrew, that's so interesting how that does that, It's been hot hear too. Sometimes the colors are so vivid and intense that they glow, especially around sunset!
I'm enjoying reading so many postings on this forum.
I've not heard of the "Taj Mahol" and would love to see your photos of it!
I'm also finding out how important named plumeria are! I have about 32 different varieties, but only know the name of 14 of them. I started growing plumeria not knowing the name values over 7 years ago.

Yes, I think Andrew's right that the humidity and heat (to a degree--they can fade or suffer beyond about 90-95 degrees) are giving you those blazing colors. How's the scent? That should intensify as well.

Your collection of trees is impressive and they're all nicely shaped. You clearly have the touch. Is that a desert rose on the right in the maroon pot? There's a great forum here for those, too.

I agree about heat and humidity in general. I also wonder about the influence of warm night time temps and about the number of hours of full-sun exposure on flower color intensity.

We had a very nice 91 degree day today! More plumeria info's ready to bloom here the next few days. As far as the desert rose, I only have 2 out growing their pots given to me in trade for plumeria cuttings. ( I love this forum and there's so much to read! )

The plumeria pictured above also grows 3 feet from the road and the pavement feels warm on the feet in the evening. I'm sure the radiant heat may add to the color too. We'll soon have those 85 degree evenings down here, muggy & buggy!
