Bangkok Fire aka Daeng Maha Choke

Anyone have any experience with this one?

I ordered it yesterday for its fragrance and its intense color.

It will be my first red and I've read they can be a little tricky.

I've also read it branches well after flowering so hopefully it will be fairly compact.

Has anyone had any firsthand experience with Bangkok Red?

Do you like its fragrance?

Is it an easy bloomer?

Any info would be helpful.

Thank you!

Robert

No idea Robert... but I'm anxious to hear as well for I am in the market for a Red. Hopefully I can stop my JJ's and see what Jon has.

    Where did you get yours?

I got mine from Plumeria Treasure however Tropical Plumeria and Brad's Buds and Blooms also carries it.
Hope it smells awesome and blooms freely! :)

Got one bud that is getting closer and closer to opening. Woo hoo! I was thrilled it was still on the inflo after last night's crazy gale force winds!

Gosh, I thought it would be red! I saw a 1 gallon plant $30 at the PSA sale, I wish I would have bought it, but I was not thinking of myself at the time. Barbra

Ha! The plumeria hasn't bloomed yet but when it does it should be a reddish orange color. You're probably confused by the lavender colored Verbena bonariensis bloom in the pic. Sorry about that. :)

Bangkok Fire is supposed to smell great and have an awesome color. Can't believe you passed it up! ;)

    Ooooh.....purdy!
Since no one else has asked, (grin), I may as well...is Daeng related to Artie..choke?
Seriously, though, I'm a fool for fragrance. If my Samoan Red doesn't deliver, -I know where to look for a replacement. I too, hope Bangkok Fire is a compact or slow, grower! .

Thank you, all. I'll admit I feel a little guilty pushing another plumie. Laugh.
I will say this one seems to have it all. Great color and great scent!
This afternoon when I came home at lunch I found myself in a scent loop sniffing my Chinese Perfume Plant, California Sunset, Bangkok Fire and then my passionflower...over and over. :)

    Okay.
I've given up on this one ever fully opening. Laugh.
My partner's phone captures more of the true orange, yellow center.
    It smells awesome! Love it.

Robert, trust me, I know how you feel.

As soon as I put a webcam on a Bill Moragne bud I thought was a few hours away from blooming, it then took 5 days to do so! Enjoy it, the journey can be fun, too. That one is going to be a stunner when it opens! It will be well worth it!
