It is a nice sleepy little town. I would put any that are more than three years old in the ground.

I'm in San Antonio and have five in ground right now and plan to do more next year. Tally is in Galveston. Barbra is in Rockport and she plunges hers.

I stick everything in the ground that I can. Once seedlings get big enough so I won`t miss watering..in they go!
On the coast of Texas it just makes sense, that 6-9 months of summer and all.

Your in a great area for fishing! I sink the pots of my smaller ones and plant the larger ones directly in the ground. They all come up easily when preparing them for storing in the winter.

For you on the Gulf coast who have to 'protect', how do you 'store' them in the coldest month(s) (or week?) of winter?? Just curious.

Do you bare-root store? or in pots? And how long is your storage period on average?

I leave mine out year round, do not dig up anything in the ground. IF a hard freeze is predicted I drag anything in a pot into the house overnight. Rarely do I have to leave things in more than 1 or 2 days. In 30+ years I have only lost plumeria once, and I still think it was because they had been through Ike and not recovered.
They survived 29 degrees with no damage, record snowfall over 4", 4` of salt water for 24+ hours, drought, 3 hurricanes, countless tropical storms, broken branches, spit trunk...... and the freeze following Ike did them in.
