Parafilm on cutting

Sorry no pic!
I have a small cutting Penang Peach that broke off upon moving my now large plant out of the garage. I find this variety not quite as easy to root as some others, and especially when cuttings are small. Fortunitely it's a good time of year to root it.
I am trying something new. To prevent desication, I've wrapped it with Parafilm -- like you would a graft.
Of course I have left the bottom inch or so unwrapped, which is now in the soil. I also left the very tip-top unwrapped.
We'll see if this method keeps it from drying up too quickly.
Has anyone tried this?
Will keep you posted.
