What type of soil is it in?? Has it been transplanted?? I'm guessing it needs MORE water, depending on your answers.

It is in 5-1-1(pinebark-peat-perlite) soilmix with lime and controlled release fertilizer added. I transplanted the plant from 1gal to 2 gallon container 2 weeks ago and watered thoroughly. Soil does not look dry to add water and with plumeria's I am afraid to add water due to root/stem rot issues.

How did the rootball look when you transplanted?? Also, was it in the same mix in the 1 gallon as the 2?? I definitely don't think the roots are rotting because the leaves are very firm.

Has the location changed?? Remember, during the growing season you do not have to wait until the soil dries completely before watering again...they like to be kept evenly moist during this time of year.

Pharoh, thanks for responding. the rootball was fine at the time of transplant. The mix is little diffrent than what I have and I feel like my mix has more drainage than the original mix it came in. As far as location goes, since I got the plant to VA, it is in sunny location and it seems to like that as there are no sun burn issues with stem/leaves. The temp is in 80-90s. In some other thread I read that 'divine'plumeria need more water than other plumerias, if others with growing this specific plant also can pitch in to help on this would be great. I will try to water it today with some superthrive to see if it helps in anyway.

I have a Divine from JJ, but I'm in coastal southern CA. so the climate is cooler, and probably drier than VA. The temperature in my area has been in the low 70's on average, with sunny or partly sunny days; My plant is in full sun all day; I water it every 2 or 3 days and it seems happy with that. A great thing to have is a water meter (less than $10) I do stick it in my plants soil to see how moist it is before watering.
When you push on the trunk of your plant, is it firmly in the soil or does it move? I'm wondering if the roots have rotted and could not conduct water to the branches? I noticed that the original soil mix mine came with has a lot of peat in it, which seems to retain moisture longer. Just a thought.

I have JJ Divine and I do notice that it does want more water than my other plumerias. I found that out last year. I couldn't believe how fast it was soaking up water but just like sunseeker said, I watered every 2 days and that was about it.

I hope that helped some but I also would maybe knock it out of the pot and check the roots. If the roots are rotting and you don't do something about it right away, you may lose it. IF you check now and find that the roots are starting to rot, you can still save it. The trunk may not be rotting yet.

Let us know what happens after you water thoroughly. Pinebark holds very little water. In the temps you are having and with all of that sun, I am fairly certain those wrinkles will start to go away with a good soaking.

If they get worse and the plants leaves start to wilt, then it IS a problem with the roots but it's HIGHLY unlikely based on your info.

I think most people are so afraid of rot that they underwater. Rot is not very likely to happen when temps are above 70 during the day and 50 at night during the summer as long as your mix drains quickly. Draining quickly does not mean drying quickly.

Even living in NY I couldn't imagine using pine bark in my soil mix for the Divine. I would end up watering it daily!

Your tree looks great to me...but i would give it more water,,,my trees need nuch more that the other varities...keep up with the fertilizing.....i hope this helps....take care the extra waterin needs for this divine

I want to see pictures of that when it's blooming!! Mine looks good but it's only going into it's first full summer here, so I don't know if I should expect blooms or not.

Andrew, my Divine is blooming right now! The flowers are small but they are very pretty! There are still several other inflos that have not opened yet, and I can't wait to see all of them blooming at the same time!

Those are very nice flowers you have there!! I am certainly jealous! I know mine probobly wont bloom yet as it is still small but I am keeping my fingers crossed!

Thanks, Laura, Alex and suseeker.. The flowers are not very big they look so perfect with subtle fragrance. I was worried initial when the wrinkles showed up initially but watering did help.
