Helloooo Divine! (pics!)

My new Divine opened her first bloom on Saturday! All Friday I waited, and waited, and waited, hoping that first flower would open, but to no avail.

Saturday morning I was treated with a wonderful surprise!

I was thrilled to have it open after temperatures in the high 90's and 103* on Saturday. Its hard to tell from the pictures, but Divine has splashes of dark pink. This was quite unexpected, but very welcome.

I smell honeysucke on this one; what do you smell on your Divine?

Love the color, Rachel. Of course I wouldn't be partial because I have one waiting in FL till I get down there. Keep up the good work. Peg

congrats! It's beautiful, and interestingly, is so much darker than my Divine.

I am not one to ask about smells. LOL I do not have a normal nose...but it's definitely a sweet, nice scent.

Oh, the colors are so deep and saturated, I LOVE it!!! That is one amazing bloom, I can see why it's a favorite, the color combination is just -WOW- and the slight upturn of the edges adding that bit of white makes it so balanced and brings out the colors even more.

Wow, Rachel, that is NICE! The darkest Divine pics I've seen. She does look a bit streaky, like a lot of the Thais, and that just adds to her beauty. 103 is pretty hot for you guys, right?

To me she smelled jasmine-like, which is hard to differentiate from honeysuckle, I think, but both are fantastic.

Love the pics ! I think I'll be calling Divine my favorite plumeria now. It may not be the most fragrant but I think it's still pretty good scent wise for a plumeria. My favorite aspect is the short and compact nature of this cultivar and the fact that it blooms so faithfully every year. I'm glad to see it's readily available across the country now.

I LOVE Divine! While talking to John at JJ's yesterday I told him how dark the first bloom was. He seemed pleased by how thrilled I was.
Jen- 103* is abnormally hot for here in June, but we frequently see those temps in August. For my first bloom of the year to open during such a heat wave was excellent timing! I also put a saucer with water next to the plant to try and make raise the humidity. I like the splashing, and it is more pronounced now since the flower has faded to light pink.
