I bought Lurline at the Dole Plantation in Oahu in "09.....died promptly. A friend who has over 1000 plumies said...it needs to be grafted...was this one? roxanne

Lurline does not need to be grafted I rooted several and bought one rooted from MPG. The issue with Lurline and Donald Angus Red is they very sensitive to our winters, no matter what zone/micro climate you live in, usually ends up with damaged tips or rotting. Lurline just needs more protection/babying during the winter.

Yep my Lurline rotted this winter. :(

I have read many sad stories regarding Lurline!! I have a 5 foot tree in ground and another large one in a pot. Neither are grafted (I really try and stay away from grafted plumeria if I can help it) and there has never been a problem with either one and they both started out as cuttings looong time ago. I remember the cuttings took a bit, but other than that...again no problem. I do talk to them however.....;)

Plumygirl, I thought that only I talk to them! I go and wipe the dust off their leaves or spray them with water, take pictures and talk to them.
