Ok here are pics of the HB's I am sending y'all.
I pulled them out of the Mother plants pot, they were branches that broke off in Feb 2013, during a wind storm. I poked them in the pot unfortunately it is in mostly shade and BAM.... Opps there it is!!!

Unfortunately I just tugged them outta the pot, so I am going to hold on to them for a bit till they show signs of root growth as many of the roots ripped off. THIS IS FOR YOUR INFO LYNN...lol
Ok Lynn's Plant with inflo, over 3ft tall with new tips by the inflo:

Cwcervantes Here are your pics of your HB:

Again the branches were in Shade all day long as it was in the mother trees pot so the big HB along with all the other plumie pots next to it shaded it so it really did not get sun.
So I am going to hold onto it for couple weeks before shipping off, or first sign of new root growth..

Cheers

Wow James they are huge! I can't believe you just stuck them in the mother pot and they rooted! That's insane. That inflo is amazing! I am so excited!! Thank you! You just made my night.

No problem Lynn. Ill let you know when its ready to send, or we can meet and Ill bring it. Actually the weird thing is if I try to root conventionally in sterile pots/soil, or water root my HB NEVER EVER EVER Roots, only rots. When I root the cuttings with the mother plant even in winter, for some odd reason 90 percent of the time it roots. Out of 10 cuttings only 1 rotted in the mothers pot, but it also was like 8", usually the ones that break off that I root are all like 2ft or bigger.
    Go figure..

    Cheers

That's so interesting! I wonder why that is.

I hope you feel better soon so we can meet up. :)

James, several people have told me the same thing aout rooting this one. Sticking it in the pot with the mother plant gives them the best results. Weird. Nicely done sir.
    Tally HO!

    Hey Thanks Beachplant!!! :)
A friend Twila told me to do this years ago.
Twila stated she has did not have issues rooting HB, so I told her maybe she had a designer imposter as she could readily root hers.
Well I was told she learned the secret from this Latin Gardner who had a HUGE full on HB tree in the front of his house in OC. I was told how she found him was she pulled over and stopped when she saw this huge old HB tree in full bloom almost looking black in the heat.
The guy was in his front yard, and there were lots and lots of pots of rooted HB cuttings, so she asked him what his rooting method was. Twila was told that he would take the cuttings then put them in mud from the soil he collected from the yard where the mother tree was, then gang rooted them in the soil/dirt from the yard... Go figure..
So I was told instead of sterilizing and being overly fussy with HB to just poke them in the pot with the mother tree and Voila, rooted HB cuttings.

    Cheers

Ok James, I will test this theory in about 10 years when my trees are bigger to have a fallen branch. ;) I'm going to prove you wrong b/c you my friend have the magic touch!

Well with HB even when you cut a branch off her or it snaps off, usually she gets funky at the cut line on the tree, usually dies back or rots a bit. If I cut my HB I leave like 4' plus of branch behind so that the rot or what ever it is will not get to the trunk. I Alwasy spray with Fungicide and tree seal after.

    Lynn,
I was at my patch yesterday and saw that your HB had 2 blossoms open. In just 4 days with 73 degree temps, look what a difference 4 days makes.

Lynn, I brought my Hilo Beauty into the sunroom last winter and it continued blooming through Christmas last year (and though mid-January). So beautifully strange to see a red plumeria next to a red poinsettia. It's a lovely flower.

    Simi,

I remember those photos you posted!! That was simply amazing!! I love her too. But unfortunately for me the plant I bought from Matthew still refuses to wake up!! I am about to give up on her. So James, generously is rooting that cutting for me.

I can't wait to see her in person!

How are you doing? Please post pics for your plants so we can admire!

Lynn, my Hilo Beauty finally started to push an inflo today. So hopefully, and thanks to James, we'll both have flowers into the holidays! And I'll post some plumie pics soon (I've been taking a lot!)
