All one-handed "dollies" and "hand trucks" are just passing fads and gimmicks for all except the lightest-duty applications. That's why the two-handed, wide-framed hand trucks have remained the standard for hundreds of years. There's nothing like being able to grasp your hand truck with two hands and maneuver it, push it, shove it, and make it do what you want it to do. You simply can't do the same work on a single post handle that you can with two handles spread wide.

Also, not all pots are strong enough to be abused by a clamp or a wire or a bar that lifts the pot, or grasps at the lip. That amounts to either destructive abuse of a beautiful and expensive pot, or sometimes the complete annihilation of a cheaper pot. That's why our forefathers invented a flat platform for hand trucks hundreds of years ago.

If you want to start with the correct tool from the beginning, and not throw away your time and money, then go with either of the following two hand trucks from Nursery Enterprises for large potted plants. There's nothing like these two potted plant hand trucks—they have no competition!

Hey all so sorry if this is a bad product. I have one my husband gave me as a gift. I will try to find out if it's the same one (I thought it was) The one I have works great, but I don't think I have any potted plants over 60lbs.

Just because it got some bad reviews doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad product...especially if it works great for you! :)
I have a regular old dolly and a product called PotLifter.
I'm always interested in new stuff!

Some some advice for you plumi growers. I did this with my plumis. Some "WISE" advice... use a square pot. Easier to control, and move. Also, when the wind blows they seem to resist blowing over. If the Plumi's are large, use one of those rubber tie downs to keep the trees more stable, but do it around the bottom. Some experience that should be well taken.

I like what George did, he modified his heavy duty dolly, by adding two steel arms to its base. Looks like a mini forklift. I am definitely having that done. It will cost me a cheesecake but is well worth it. For my birthday my husband bought me solid bright blue wheels for my dolly, no more flats. That was one of the most thoughtful gifts I have ever received. Barbra

I have 2 in 65 gallon geo pots & I built dollies to keep them on permanently.
