Im not sure of the "ideal" temps cuttings should be near... My cuttings are in my greenhouse and they are in the clear bottles sitting in large black containers with seedling mats under the bottles. The temps in the greenhouse get up to 90* during the day and fall into the mid 70's at night. I know that all of the cuttings have really enjoyed their surroundings this year. I wish that i could give you more info.. but this is just from experimenting with the cuttings.. i have been trying different methods..

I read somewhere that "ideal" soil temperature for rooting is around 85 degrees. I don't remember the source, context, or any other factors which may come into play.

So be wary as usual.

well i thought it was on low but it was on 2. Low has the soil at about 86 so maybe it right on target.

I am glad you asked this question Mike, I have been wonderin also. Do you have a thermostat on your heat mat?

No not really. It's an old heat pad for people. The settings are low,2,3 etc so im trying to figure out the actually temps using a thermometer. I put a plastic flat on it to keep it dry. I usually use it in winter for seed started but I have a feeling it may get more use. :)

Mike, be careful with the heating pad as they are not made to run 24/7. They can short out and cause a fire. I've seen it happen but fortunately I was there when it did. Please be careful. Peg
