Hope For Michigan Plumi Growers

I just want to let you Northern Gardeners it is possible to grow beautiful plumi's in Michigan. I no longer have these, but these were taken from cuttings in Hawaii in 1996... These photos are from August 2007... the last time I enjoyed my plumis on my deck at my old house. Please take a look, it will inspire you. I don't think I have a green thumb, I just try to duplicate what the conditions that are natural for them. With a feeding of Bloom Booster everyweek, and Michigan's hot summers, and bringing them inside before the temps get below 50, they can look like these.

WOW That is amazing Tommy. Thanks for sharing them. That gives me relief over plumerias not requiring gigantic-size pots for them to get that large (that way I can spend less money on containers and more on plants tehehe :3).

Beautiful trees Tommy! They're so lush and happy looking. It must have been hard to leave them behind... but I'm glad you got cuttings off them.

Thanks... Yes. I was able to bring some cuttings back to Hawaii and they are planted at my house. I just haven't been back since March 2009 and I don't know how much they have grown. Its nice to start over again with new cuttings. When I leave next time it will be for good. I'll sell the Plumi's here and take some cuttings back to Hawaii with me to start over.

It sure has been a hot summer, I think they love the heat! I found mine to be very easy to keep during the winter, I would encourage everyone in the northern states to try one! Now if only our local big box stores would sell them! One year lowes had banana and if I would have mulched it enough it could have survived the winter in the ground, oh well, we learn from our mistakes.
