If you are talking about buying grafted vs. a rooted cutting, I prefer the rooted plant. A graft is a cut and the scar can be perfect or ugly, especially if the two parts grow at different rates. Usually good grafters like Florida Colors choose the plants to match. The advantage is that a grafted plant or a rooted plant is almost a year ahead of a cutting you want to root. You pay a bit more to get a year ahead. Also rooting can be costly as some will fail to root or will rot. A well matched graft will be on a seedling stock that has a good root system. However, I do have a few grafts that are really ugly- it can happen. Only picture I have is from 3 years ago but if you look at the 5th from the right you see a larger base below the graft.
