Sunset Glow on my Hawaiian Rose

Every so often we have those sunsets that capture the intensity of flower colors. My Grandfather from Scotland called it "The Glowming Period", the hour after sunset.

There's a warm glow to the sky that reflects those golden tones in the sky.

I was standing in the garage thinking of him and when I was young and I looked over to the J.L. Hawaiian Rose just beaming with brilliance. Ran inside to grab the camera and capture the moment.

Stuart, love your grandfathers words "the glowing period". I have never heard that before, its so true. Your Hawaiian Rose is just beautiful, as all your plants. Does it have a strong rose scent? Barbra

Hi Barbra, The Hawaiian Rose is heavy with rose fragrance!
All you have to do is walk by it and enjoy the scent.
Don't forget the "M" in Glowming! That's how he said it and now that I'm older I wish I knew why it was said that way?

Hi Kenny, I have 8 cuttings that are rooting and growing but wont be available till next April 2013. My cuttings must have a vigorous root ball before I sell them. I can sell a regular cutting however it's getting late in the season and depending where your live you may want to wait till next Spring.

Hi Stuart! Great sunset! The flower is so appropriate for the photo.

We have wonderful sunsets here setting over the river. Just beautiful!

My dad was in the navy so we always sung this phrase:

Red sky at night, sailor's delight.
Red sky at morning, sailor take warning

I really miss my dad :(
