I call the seedling numbered with the mothers name, for example Cindy Moragne Seedling #33. It is not a Cindy Moragne so it must be named a seedling unless you give it a name or register it as a variety. It can look like the mother or be completely different but it is not a cindy much like your children are not exactly you.

That sounds good. I purchased a seedling unknowingly as a specific type but when it bloomed it different. ..but similar. Looks like I have a new way to label.

The number your using is a consectutive number based upon how many seeds you have correct?

I wait until the seedlings are somewhat established and as I move them into larger pots I assign a number. The first potted is #1 and so forth. Later I assign names to those that are unique and worth saving.

Same here. When they are mature enough to pot up separately, I name them seedling 1 and count up from there.
