I'm not qualified to give cuttings advice. I don't root them I kill them. But I just wanted to say that is pretty impressive! And they said Hilo Beauty is hard to root! Big congrats! :)

Whoo Hoo!! that is exciting. 42 days is pretty good. I prefer to let the cuttings root mass get a bit larger inside the bottle before I remove it but you could do it now just fine. Now you can give it a little drink of water. When you do remove it Be sure and cut down the length of the bottle in a couple places to help remove the roots without disturbing them too much.

As far as what type of soil? That is a highly debated topic. Key is for it to drain well. Gritty mix has been trialed well with plumeria also the 5.1.1. I make my own that works well for my area and many others do the same. Typically it will consist Pine bark, perlite and some peat or the dust from the bark product. Usually people immediately say no to Miracle grow and I usually do as well but in a pinch you can amend it fairly easily with additional perlite and have a decent soil. I see you are in 7b which means you will probably start going into the dormant season in about a month and a half or so. Do your best to either get that root ball big or force the cutting to grow over winter with lights. That will help it get a good start next growing season. Rule of thumb is no leaves, no water. Some leaves some water, etc.
