I recently bought (6 weeks ago) a cutting from a nursery here in Fla, but via internet and sent by Fedex.. Cut end arrived wrapped in plastic. Their instructions were to stick cut end 4" into potting soil mixed with compost and perlite, water in and do not water until soil is dry. Since then, I have learned that it's best let cutting dry out which I did not do. Plant has leaves and bud(?) but with winter coming on, how can I tell if plant has rooted? Pulling it up to check it seems like it would knock plant back.
