Plumerias going dormant?

Posted by Hunter_M Ohio (My Page) on

One thing I love about plumerias is how fast they grow. If a leaf is opening up, it will be a big leaf within the next few days. But reecently I have noticed that both of my plumerias are not growing fast at all. It has been cold the past few days here (mid to low 60s!) and it does dip down pretty cold at night. Is this the first sign of dormancy?
Thanks!

Usually the bottom leaves will yellow and drop off as the plant begins to consider dormancy.

I agree, the bottom leaves always start to yellow and then the plant slowly goes dormant. My Plumeria "Divine" Never really fully goes dormant, but it does begin its semi-dormancy very early and has actually started dropping leaves this week. Still full and blooming though, but my other plumerias still have no signs of yellowing bottom leaves and probably wont until early October.
Good luck!

Thanks Alex and tdogdad. About 2 or 3 bottom leaves have fallen off of my rooted plumeria.
