Plumeria About To Bloom for First Time Ever!!!!

For all that don't know my story, I live in the northeast and had never seen a plumeria before. My husband and I went to Hawaii on our honeymoon 2 1/2 yrs ago and that was my first time smelling and seeing plumeria. (Truly the sweetest scent I had ever smelled) Before leaving the airport to come home, we bought a cutting at the airport. I planted it have done my best to make it thrive under less then hospitable conditions. About 6-8 weeks ago it began to grow a flower inflo. However, when it started growing the info I had to bring it indoors because it began to get cold out. I put a light on it to try to make it think it was still warm and sunny out. It continued to grow the inflo and then budded! It has taken awhile, but it appears to be almost ready to flower! Take a look! I guess by the coloring of the buds, it will have pinkish flowers. (I would have been happy with any color!) I'll post pictures when it does finally bloom!

Congartulations. Its a great feeling to get one of these plants to bloom especially for the first time. They come in so many colors and sizes its hard not to be addicted to growing them.

Good luck and enjoy it!

My first pluemria to bloom bloomed around late august or early september and its indoors now and still blooming, so if your lucky you might have some buds still opening in time for the holidays.

C-4444- Just because the outside of the bud is pink does not mean the inside will be too. It could be pink or a white with a pink on the outside back of the petals. Good luck. Bill

going along with what Bill said take a look at the pictures below...I thought this one was going to be pink or red. It tricked me as it came out white and yellow. I din't care though. Whatever it is, I'm sure you will love it too. Congratulations!!

I thought my pretty princess plumeria was going to be white after seeing the petals, but now that its starting to open it looks pinkish with an exaggerated yellow center. Im going to upload a picture of the bloom hoepfully tonight (this plant is taking its time opening up this flower!).

Good luck and enjoy your flower.

Thanks all. Yes! it is very exciting. I cannot wait for it to bloom. In response to John's post above, I have to confess... I first fell in love with the simple one and yellow plumeria in Hawaii so I guess that would be what I want the most but I will be happy with anything. I'll post pics when it blooms.
