non rooted cutting , tip rotting?

Was about to put a couple cuttings into rooting mixture when I noticed that one of them looks like the tip is rotting. With the exception of the top 1/2" the rest of the cutting is firm and looks normal. If I cut off the tip is it possible that this will still root and grow? Searched the forum but only saw this problem with an already rooted cutting.

It could, people do middle cuts so I don't see why not. As long as it's clean wood it should be fine. (Be sure to sterilize between cuts) You may want to seal the cut top with something.
