Losing ground...

My sister gave my mom her first plumeria cutting this spring. She potted it in June and was delighted by it's rapid growth of 3 strong leaves. It grew another smallish one and started another in the center and proceeded to abruptly stop all progress. But the leaves remained healthy so we waited.

This fall, an ivy joined the indoor-house plant family and seems to have brought with it some tiny, flying bugs. They quickly abandoned the ivy and took up residence, seemingly, in the plumeria soil. This week, one of the leaves began to curl and the small one developed brown and black marks -and was removed.

We decided to re-pot it, only to discover that still has no roots! It was in cactus soil and will be again. It had gravel in the bottom for good drainage...

Any suggestions? Is it doing what it's supposed to be doing?

RE: Losing ground...

You might want to give it some root hormone. Sometimes if plumeria cuttings arent fresh (which it certainly isnt now) they take longer than more recent cuttings. Keep it nice and warm, and make sure it never dires out. You night not end up seeing any roots until mate spring because they dont like to grow in the winter, but you might be surprised!

Good luck!
