overwintering and leaf drop

I have noticed that sometimes they keep their leaves all winter (in the house), and sometimes not. Depends on light and watering, I suppose.

I have one large plant that I'd kinda like to have it drop its leaves so I can keep it in an area that gets less light (to make room for other plants to stay in the brightest light.)
Is it safe to try to get it to drop leaves? Can I just cut way back on water and light?

Also, do you need to root cuttings right away? How long can they be stored?

Yes

But why don't you just cut them off, and then you won't have a watering issue with so little light?

Just give them a tiny bit of water if the soil dries out "completely" to keep them from dehydrating...

I have been told by many that you can store a cutting up to a couple of months without issues..But we will let the experts tell us...:-)

Goodluck..

I have stored cuttings for over half a year with no problem. Do not store in a warm, dry place but a cool spot so you do not remove too much moisture.
