I would think it was exactly what you thought.. The leaves tell us a story about what is happening with the roots. The fertilizer might have been to strong and you see it by the signs in the leaves. I would reduce what ever you are feeding it and flush the soil to get rid of the excess fertilizer in the container. The roots have already taken up the amount it needs and some of the excess. Flush and give it time. I think you will be fine. Also cut way back on the amount of what you are feeding.

Some don't fertilize at all during the winter, some do a little. I'm one that gives a little ( reduced from reg amount in the summer to 1/4 ) once a month .if that..

I had run out of my regular fertilizer and tried something new. I think my plant is saying not a good move. I've been doing as you said and have just been giving it water for the last few weeks. Hopefully by next month the leaves will start growing normal again.

I think it may have been trying to go dormant until I did that. This is my first year with it, so I'm still learning. Since fall has started, all the leaves on the trees outside have fallen, so my plant now gets full afternoon sun from the window. Don't know if it will try to go dormant or keep growing throughout the winter months. We'll see how it goes.

Alan, most plumeria do need a little rest over the winter, even if it's a short one, in order to perform well the next bloom season.

I watch to see who's dropping leaves and let those guys go to sleep until they start to claw again and then I let them have more sunny room by the window. If you want to give them a head start in late January you can put them under lights then to extend their growing time.
